Association between bisphenol A and waist-to-height ratio among children: National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, 2003-2010

Epidemiologic studies have found cross-sectional associations between bisphenol A (BPA), obesity, and related outcomes among adults; [1-6] and more recently among children [7-9], These are important findings given the increased vulnerability of children to BPA [10]. In these pediatric studies investigators defined obesity by using body mass index-based criteria; however, measures of central obesity are suggested to be better discriminators of cardiovascular risk [11,12]. Therefore, our objective was to determine whether there is a relationship between BPA and waist-to-height ratio (WHR), a measure of central obesity, among children.
