FDA rejects petition to recognize D-tagatose as fiber

FDA has rejected a petition from ingredient maker Bonumose to add D-tagatose to the list of dietary fibers. However, the agency says it is still considering another petition from the Charlottesville, Va.-based firm requesting that FDA delist D-tagatose as an added sugar on the Nutrition Facts label.
