EPA hears mixed views from biofuel, oil and food interests on proposed RFS levels, SRE moves

EPA heard a mix of views during a Tuesday (January 5) public hearing on proposed 2020, 2021 and 2022 biofuel blending mandates under the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS), continuing to keep in place fractured views between biofuels interests and those of oil and refining interests over levels under the RFS, small refinery exemptions (SREs). Plus, the agency heard from bakers warning higher biodiesel mandates will lead to “chaos” in already strained food supply chains.
