Australian vessel queues rise sharply

The number of vessels waiting to load coal at Australian ports rose sharply in the latest week, up by 22 vessels to 74 as of 28 May. This was mainly due to the expansion of queues at the Port Waratah Coal Services (PWCS) and NCIG terminals at Newcastle as heavy seas over the weekend prevented the berthing of vessels for several days, resulting in an increase of 17 vessels waiting off Newcastle.
