The US potato industry said it welcomed news on Tuesday that USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack reached a deal with Mexican officials in a plan to reopen the Mexico market to US fresh potatoes by May 15. But the industry is also refraining from declaring victory in the 25-year battle until the last hurdle is overcome and shipments are cleared in Mexico.
