Despite avoiding a general recession, the US economy has witnessed two years ofcontraction and stagnation in its goods producing sector, and its indicators promiselittle progress in the medium term. Though the situation in both manufacturing andmining has improved, the construction output has headed downward, nonresidentialfixed investment has been stagnating since Q4 2014, consumer spending remainingthe only growth driver.
