In 2012, supply to the Russian free domestic market for merchant coke willsupposedly shrink, as one of the largest coke plants, Altai-Koks, will sell thegreater part of its output to NLMK. As a result, the domestic market, which isusually glutted, will become more or less balanced. Last year, Altai-Koks soldaround 650,000 t of coke in the free market. At the same time, slack exportdemand will be pressing the market. Sufficient stocks will curb demand growthif pig iron production, currently low, goes up.
