The global steelmaking industry continued to beat records in H1. According tothe up-to-date information from the WSA, the world.s output of crude steeltotalled 790 mt in H1 (up 2% or 15.7 mt year-on-year), which is above MetalExpert.s latest forecast. World production was expected to decline by 1.8% tosome 759 mt under the worst scenario. Despite record-breaking productionnumbers, steelmaking capacity utilization is still approximately 2% lower than ayear ago. Since June 2012, total steelmaking capacity has been growing by300,000 t a day, reaching around 110 mtpy.
