Kanto Scrap Market, Electric Steelmakers to Lower Prices by Y 500-1,000 from Mar. 23

The Kanto ferrous scrap market price is further declining. After Tokyo Steel decided on March 22 to lower the purchasing price by Y 500 at Utsunomiya Plant starting March 23, electric steelmakers in the area, excluding those that purchase for only a limited period, followed suit and lowered their prices by Y 500-1,000 starting March 23. Many steelmakers lowered their prices by Y 500, but JFE Bars & Shapes Toubu Works lowered its prices by Y 1,000. Mukoyama Steel Works lowered its prices by Y 1,000, excluding Shredded and heavy scraps that were lowered by Y 500.
