The Earth is warming at a rate faster than at any time over the last 10,000 years which, whilst an inconvenient truth for humanity, may be a matter of life and death for many of the animals and plants cohabiting this planet. Furthermore, this rapid environmental change is occurring against the backdrop of an anthropogenic mass-extinction event the like of which has probably not occurred for 65 million years. With all ecosystems now feeling the effect of climate change, for some species the future may well be bleak.
