Coal Production at Cerrejon Coal Mine from January to March is 5.39 Million Tons

5.39 million tons of coal was produced at Cerrejon open-cut coal mine, a large-scale thermal coal mine in Colombia in the period from January to March in 2021. This represents a decrease of 550,000 tons (9.3%) versus the yearearlier period.Besides, the coal sales volume from January to March was 5.243 million tons, down by 847,000 tons (13.9%)from the year-earlier period.At Cerrejon coal mine, the workers under the umbrella of SintraCarbon as the biggest labor union at the said coalmine implemented a large-scale strike for a period of 91 days from 31 August 2020, as a consequence of which the coalproduction and sale at the said coal mine in 2020 dropped sharply.
