South32 and Anglo American Withdraw from Coal Business in South Africa

South32 Limited, Australia and Anglo American plc, UK withdrew from the coal business in South Africa in succession against a background of the enhanced regulation on the global greenhouse gas emission. On June 1, South32 sold all the shares in South32 SA Coal Holdings Proprietary Limited (SAEC) owned by the Company to Seriti Resources Holdings Proprietary Limited. Accordingly, Seriti Resources acquired the coal assets as a single package including 4 collieries operated by SAEC such as Khutala Colliery, Klipspruit Colliery, Middelburg Colliery and Wolvekrans Colliery as well as 3 coal processing plants.
