Colombia could double its natural gas reserves by 2027 if the government would remove several"obstacles"impeding exploration and development,including high pipeline tariffs,missing infrastructure and poor relations with indigenous communities,an oil and gas producer trade group said June 30.Colombian Petroleum Association President Francisco Lloreda made the claims at a press conference in Bogota,which was called partly to challenge warnings by the energy ministry and the National Hydrocarbons Agency earlier this month that the country is in danger of losing its self-sufficiency in natural gas supplies as soon as 2023.
