Trafigura boss upbeat over trading, investment opportunities in low-carbon world

London—Trafigura, one of the world’s biggest independent commodity traders, sees “fantastic” trading and investment opportunities as the world moves to clean, lower-carbon energy and more sustainable economic growth, its CEO Jeremy Weir said Jan. 27. Global demand growth for key battery and electrification metals such as copper, aluminum, nickel, and cobalt will all provide Trafigura with important trading growth even as future oil and gas demand eventually starts to decline, Weir said at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
