Manufacturers eye onboard CCS to cut shipping emissions

Green marine technology company TECO 2030 and engineer Chart Industries are targeting carbon capture and storage solutions on ships to help them meet international climate goals, amid doubts about the short-term availability of future fuels. The companies have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to develop the technology, TECO 2030 said June 14. The technology, which uses Chart Industries' background in cryogenic equipment and systems, will separate the CO2 from ships' exhaust gases, resulting in a high-purity liquid CO2 product stored in tanks until the ship reaches port.
