Primary CD5-positive mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma of the urinary bladder

Primary lymphoma of the urinary bladder is very rare. To date, approximately 100 cases have been reported in the English literature [1-8]. Most bladder lymphomas are B-cell neoplasms [1-8]. Mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma and diffuse large B-cell lymphoma are the 2 most common types of the bladder lymphoma [1-8]. An 88-year-old Japanese woman presented with hematu-ria. Cystoscopy showed a polypoid tumor (3 x 3 x 3.5 cm) in the posterior walls of the urinary bladder. A transurethral resection of the bladder tumor was performed.
