London—Atlantic coking coal markets on Jan. 18 heard of tight US supplies keeping high-volatile and low-vol HCC spot pricing well supported into March. A recovery in Australian spot pricing also aided US coking coal pricing offers, with traders actively testing the China market and finding US coal limiting supply for alternative markets. Limited US availability was heard to be limiting offers into existing inquiries, with South American and European buyers looking for lowvol HCC and high-vol HCC in the prompt window. The inquiries are on top of traders amassing US coals such as low-vol and mid-vol HCC to meet Q1 loading demand for China, which continues to restrict new coal imports from Australia.
