Singapore—China’s Shanxi Coking Coal Group increased its coking coal prices across the board for the first quarter of 2021 from Q4 2020, a company source told S&P Global Platts Jan. 4. “First-quarter prices have been made higher across the board, with a variety of price increases between Yuan 78-98/mt.” the company source said. Spot prices on an FOB basis are reported for a range of coking coals from the company's major mines: these include Yuan 1,510/mt for 1.3% sulfur coal from the Tunlan mine, Yuan 1,425 mt for Jiexiu (1.3% sulfur), Yuan 1,600/mt for Shaqu (below 1.0% sulfur), Yuan 1,555/mt for Malan, Yuan 1,110/mt for Fenhe fat coal (2.5% sulfur), and Yuan 890/mt for Xiegou gas coal.
