Asia met coal PLV FOB edges lower as firm offers slip; CFR China steady

Singapore—Seaborne metallurgical coal prices moved slightly lower in the premium coking coal segment as firm offers slipped to find buyers in the ex-China spot market. S&P Global Platts assessed Premium Low Vol down 50 cents/ mt to $110/mt FOB Australia, and CFR China flat at $222/mt CFR China April 15. The spot market saw firm offers moved lower to entice buying interest, while buyers were not in a hurry to transact. The most competitive offer was seen at $116/mt FOB Australia for globalCOAL HCCA, 75,000 mt with May laycan, down $1/mt on the day. A sell-side source said that restocking demand could be expected to emerge as prices of Australian premium low vol and mid vol materials gradually stabilized in the low to mid $110/mt range in the ex-China market.
