Singapore—The South Korean domestic scrap market saw steelmakers cutting bids in the week to Jan. 14 on healthy domestic flows, breaking a 10-week upswing that pushed prices up by nearly $133/mt, S&P Global Platts data showed. Bids for Light A scrap, similar to Japanese H2 material, for delivery to southern mills were in the range of Won 422,000- 425,000/mt ($384-$387/mt), with the midpoint at Won 423,500/mt, slipping Won 1,500/mt from the week before, market sources said. "Now that the import market is weakening, yards are probably wanting to sell more eagerly and we are seeing good flows this week," a South Korean mill source said. "We may have to adjust our price downwards again sooner."
