Japanese FOB light scrap price picks up on demand from Vietnam

Singapore—The Japanese export market for H2 ferrous scrap saw prices picking up within the week, supported by demand from Vietnam as buyers were heard needing inventory amid good sales of steel. S&P Global Platts assessed the Japanese H2 FOB Tokyo Bay spot price at Yen 43,900/mt ($403/mt), up Yen 400/mt from a week ago. While sources previously were expecting some possible softening within the week, prices instead continued its uptrend as Vietnamese buyers sought for inventories.
