US wire rod prices rise following price increases

Pittsburgh—US wire rod prices moved higher on April 16 after key domestic wire rod producers issued price increases during the previous week. Platts’ weekly Midwest mesh quality wire rod assessment rose to $910-$930/st ex-works on April 16, up from $890-$920/st the previous week. In total, the wire rod assessment’s midpoint has risen by $340 in seven months, reaching an over nine-year high.
