Singapore—Tokyo Steel Manufacturing, Japan’s leading electric arc furnace mill, raised local scrap bid levels following growing demand alongside better steel production, Japanese trading sources said April 14. The company raised bids for all grades of scrap for delivery to its four steelmaking works in Japan, effective April 15. Deliveries for H2 scrap to its Tahara and Okayama works will be up Yen 1,500/mt ($13.80/mt), while to its Kyushu and Utsunomiya works it will be up by Yen 1,000/mt.
