Equinor, US Steel Eye Blue Hydrogen

Norwegian oil and gas producer Equinor and US Steel have signed a memorandum of understanding to look into using "blue" hydrogen to make "green" steel in the US. The two companies plan to study the feasibility of using natural gas to make blue hydrogen through steam methane reforming and also capturing and storing the carbon dioxide produced during the process. The hydrogen would then be used in the steel production process (NE Jun.10'21).
