Ecopetrol Bids for Power Firm

Colombian state producer Ecopetrol is looking to acquire a 51.4% stake in electricity transmission company Interconexion Electrica (ISA) as part of its larger strategy to diversify its asset base and advance its energy transition and decarbonization goals. Ecopetrol said it would fund its nonbinding offer of $3.8 billion for the majority stake in ISA by issuing stock and divesting non-strategic assets in Colombia, among other measures. ISA operates electric power lines and fiber optic networks in Colombia, Brazil, Chile, Peru, Bolivia, Argentina and Central America.
