Study Envisions 33 Bcf/d of New Pipe Capacity by 2025

Gas pipeline companies will add almost 33 billion cubic feet per day of capacity in North America by 2025,in large part to support steadily rising demand from LNG exporters,according to a new industry-backed study.The optimistic projections from ICF Resources for the Ingaa Foundation-the research arm of the Interstate Natural Gas Association of America-come despite growing resistance to new gas infrastructure from environmentalists and lawmakers at all levels of government.The 33 Bcf/d forecast is down by almost 6 Bcf/d,or 15%,from ICF's 2018 outlook thanks to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and weakening commodity prices,but"it still requires a substantial amount of new infrastructure,"the report said,noting that domestic gas production is expected to grow more than 10% by 2025 to average 103 Bcf/d.
