BHP starts production at 80-mln-tpy South Flank iron ore mine

BHP has started producing iron ore at its 80-million-tonnes-peryear South Flank mine in Western Australia’s central Pilbara, the miner said on Thursday May 20. Its output will raise the miner’s Western Australia Iron Ore operations’ average iron ore grade from 61% to 62%. It will also raise the proportion of lump from 25% to 30-33%.
