Domestic rebar prices in the north of Europe were broadly stable at high levels over the past week, supported by rising scrap costs and good order books at processors, source told Fastmarkets on Wednesday, March 17. Despite buying activity across the region being subdued, producers were happy to maintain their prices because of the high feedstock costs and robust demand from processors and end users. “Producers have no intention of lowering their prices, and why would they? [End-user] demand is there, scrap prices are high and imports are [slow] and are high-priced,” a Germany-based trader said.
