US: January MOP imports up 39%

The US imported 1.81 Mt MOP in January, a 39% increase from the same month of 2020, according to IHS Markit trade data. Imports from Canada rose 18% year on year to 847,593 t. Of this, 186,200 t was re-exported from Portland, Oregon, a 4% decrease from January 2020. January MOP imports by the US from Israel jumped to 135,680 t from just 18,303 t previously and the volume from Russia more than doubled to 128,650 t from 59,175 t.
