Nigeria raises $341 million for raw material procurement

The Fertilizer Producers and Suppliers Association of Nigeria (FEPSAN) has secured around NGN 140 billion ($340.8 million) in cash and guarantees to support raw material procurement for the 2021 farming season, Vanguard reported. Only FEPSAN-accredited blenders will be funded in an attempt to clamp down on illicit fertilizer manufacturing in Nigeria, the association’s executive secretary suggested. FEPSAN is reportedly working with the Nigerian government on a Fertilizer Quality Control Act to ensure farmers have access to unadulterated fertilizers.
