Saudi Arabia: Ma'aden ammonia fire causes plant shutdown

Saudi Arabian Mining Company (Ma’aden) said the ammonia plant at Ma’aden Phosphate Company (MPC) encountered a technical deficiency on 20 May that led to a limited fire and an unscheduled shutdown. The shutdown has not affected Ma’aden’s ability to produce phosphate or meet its obligations to customers, Ma’aden said in a 23 May statement to the Saudi stock exchange. Preliminary estimates indicate the impact on the company’s finances will not be material.
