Western Australia joins zero carbon hydrogen scheme

The government of Western Australia joined the Smart Energy Council’s zero carbon certification scheme to accelerate the development and deployment of renewable hydrogen, according to a government statement issued on 21 July. The scheme will leverage a Guarantee of Origin style framework that will certify renewable sourcing and production, expanding across both green ammonia and green metals. Greenhouse gas emissions will be tracked, while prospective production will also receive an embedded carbon rating.
