PGNiG deepens dependency on Venture Global after scrapping Port Arthur SPA

Poland’s state-owned energy firm PGNiG has deepened its dependency on US LNG developer Venture Global after the pair signed another 20-year sale and purchase agreement (SPA), under which PGNiG will take another 2 mtpa from the US firm’s Gulf Coast LNG projects. The announcement came on the same day in which PGNiG confirmed that it had terminated an SPA with Sempra Energy for 2 mtpa from its proposed Port Arthur LNG project, with some market observers suggesting the latest deal with Venture Global looks like a replacement for the Port Arthur volumes.
