Pemex fre buoys Canadian heavy crude in US

Heavy Canadian crude prices in the US were supported by tightened heavy Mexican ofshore crude supply prompted by a Pemex platform fre in the Mexican waters of the Gulf of Mexico. As of 23 August, the fre had cut heavy Mexican output by 421,000 bl from 125 production wells in the day since the incident occurred. The platform fre started at 4:10 ET on 22 August and was brought under control an hour later, Pemex said. Pemex said it expected to restart production within days following the restoration of electricity generation.
