Chinese president Xi Jinping has announced plans to strictly limit the increase in coal consumption in China’s 14th five-year plan, which is likely to weigh on Chinese import demand. To achieve the goal of cutting coal consumption, the country will restrict coal-fired power projects, President Xi said at the US-hosted virtual climate summit on 22-23 April.
