Japan's aluminium imports strengthen

Japanese imports of primary aluminium ingots increased on the year in April, supported by a recovery in demand for aluminium products from the manufacturing sector. Imports of aluminium ingots increased by 7pc on the year to 119,126t in April, according to preliminary data released by Japan's finance ministry. The imports were valued at ￥29bn ($263mn), up by 37pc on the year, or ￥246,155/t.
