Coal India eyes higher output as demand rises

State‐controlled mining frm Coal India (CIL) is eyeing double‐ digit output growth in the April 2021 to March 2022 fnancial year, supported by rising demand. CIL, which meets more than 80pc of India’s coal needs, expects a sharp rebound in demand for its supplies in line with an anticipated rise in electricity consumption during the peak April-June summer period.
