A consortium of Equinor and BP has won a record-shattering wind power tender off the coast of New York as both European oil giants look to rapidly build up their energy transition businesses. The award from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority allows the pair to provide customers in the state with 1,260 megawatts from the Empire Wind 2 project and 1,230 MW from the Beacon Wind 1 project.
