Asia 2-EH at 6 year high on supply constraints, but faltering China clouds outlook

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Asia’s 2-ethylhexanol (2-EH) prices are at six-year-high levels, supported by tight regional spot supplies brought about by ongoing output losses. But with the domestic China 2-EH market starting to waver after a two-month-long bullish streak, this may curtail fresh upside potential, even if the regional supply tightness may not ease any time soon. 2-EH cargoes were valued at an average of $1,400/tonne CFR (cost & freight) east Asia for the week ended 7 Jan 2021, and the last time this counter went over the same mark was in October 2014, ICIS data shows.
