Run rates rise with recovery

Refnery throughputs are rising to meet stronger buying interest in oil products as the global demand recovery gathers pace. The latest national statistics for the US, EU 16, China, India, Japan and South Korea — which combined account for more than half of global refnery through- puts — reveal that the weighted average utilisation rate rose to 83pc in June. This is the highest since January 2020, and just three percentage points lower than in June 2019. But the picture on a national level remains variable.
