Toray’s profit plunges

Toray Industries says its net proft for the full fscal year ended 31 March was down 45.6%, to ￥45.8 billion ($421.2 million), mainly due to a US-based subsidiary of Toray recording an impairment loss. Revenue declined 9.9%, to ￥1.9 trillion, on the slowdown in the world economy and the disruption to supply chains caused by restrictions on the movement of goods and people to contain the spread of COVID-19. Operating income also dropped, by 51.3%, to ￥55.9 billion. Quarterly fgures have not been disclosed.
