Sinopec Yizheng to license Invista’s PTA technology for 3 MMt/y plant in China

China Petrochemical International Co. (Sinopec Yizheng) has agreed to license Invista’s purifed terephthalic acid (PTA) process technology for a new 3-million metric tons/year (MMt/y) plant in Jiangsu Province, China. The PTA P8 technology will be licensed for Sinopec Yizheng’s third PTA production line, says Invista. No start-up date for the plant or fnancial value for the agreement has been given. Sinopec Yizheng previously utilized Invista’s PTA P6 technology on its second PTA line, a smaller 450,000-metric tons/year facility, in 2003. The new 3 MMt/y PTA plant is “a major project for Sinopec during the 14th fve-year plan period and a critical project for Sinopec Yizheng as well,” said Guo Xiaojun, general manager at Sinopec Yizheng, during the project’s recent kickof meeting.
