Inovyn, the vinyls subsidiary of Ineos, has decided to close permanently its sulfur chemicals plant in Runcorn, UK, after critical equipment was damaged following an unexpected power outage last year. The company says it will now exit the UK sulfur chemicals market. The plant was taken ofine in October 2020 following an unexpected interruption to the site’s third-party power supply, according to the company in a recent announcement. “During a carefully controlled restart, it was identifed that a number of critical plant components had sufered signifcant damage,” it says.
