Agilyx, Kumho developing PS recycling project for South Korea

Agilyx (Tigard, Oregon) and Kumho Petrochemical (Seoul, South Korea) say they are considering building a facility in South Korea for the recycling of polystyrene. The facility, which would employ Agilyx’s chemical recycling process, would produce styrene feedstock for the production of solution styrene-butadiene rubber (SSBR), a key raw material in tire manufacturing. “Collaboration with Agilyx will give Kumho Petrochemical an opportunity of proposing [a] new line of eco- SSBR products to most of our customers who prefer sustainable products,” says Jong-Hoon Baek, CEO of Kumho Petrochemical.
