CHEMICAL CONSTITUENTS OF THE STEMS OF Orostachys malacophyllus

Rhodiola is a genus of medicinal plants that originated in Asia and Europe and are used traditionally as adaptogens, antidepressants, and anti-inflammatory agents. Orostachys malacophyllus also belongs to the family Crassulaceae. However, the resources of Rhodiola are overharvested and facing shortages. Therefore, we want to find medicinal materials with similar activity and easy planting in the same genera of Orostachys as Rhodiola. O. malacophyllus [1,2] can be used as a medicinal ingredient in traditional medicine. Our previous studies on O. malacophyllus have reported the presence of orostachysolic acid and other components. In our continuous [3] effort to explore potential active ingredients from this plant, we have isolated eight compounds from an ethanol extract of the stems of O. malacophyllus. This is the first report of the eight compounds from the genus Orostachys, including sachaloside A(1), myrtenyl O-β-D-glucopyranoside (2), ethyl L-malate (3), sanguisorbic acid dilactone (4), 2-butenoic acid (5), inulobiose 1-O-β-D-fructofuranosyl-β-D-fructopyranose (6), malic acid (7), and vanillin (8).
