This section provides information on standards activity within CEN - the European Committee for Standardization - and CENELEC - the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization.CEN and CENELEC are composed of European member bodies whose countries cooperate within the European Economic Community (Common Market) and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA).Their primary purpose is to develop standards needed to harmonize European interests and prevent technical barriers.Both CEN and CENELEC are committed to adopting standards developed by ISO and IEC wherever possible.
