Examination of the year's literature for conducting solids indicates that this is still a vigorous and active area of chemistry.This year's report willfollow a similar layout to last year's report:the first portion will concentrate on advances in the field of Li ioncells followed by oxide iion conductors and other ionic conductors.However,with the discovery of superconductivity in MgB_2 the vast amjority of the superconduct or section will concentrate on this new area of wrok.
