Supramolecular chemistry

The following short review covers advances in supramolecular chemistry for the year 2001 and is not a comprehensive treatment of the literature. There are a number of other reviews and books covering prior art in this fascinating area to which the reader is directed for an introduction to the chemistry of designed molecular interactions.~(1-14) The review is split into three sections that cover molecular recognition, structure and self-assembly, and applications.
