摘要

Optical waveguide devices are widely used in fiber optic communication, sensor applications, medical and strategic applications. Laser based direct inscription of waveguide devices inside the optical materials is rapidly emerging as a new approach to fabricate conventional as well as novel three dimensional devices. A system comprising femtosecond laser and nano positioning stages is automated to perform direct writing of waveguide devices inside optical materials. A variety of devices like 1x2, 1x4, 1x8 splitter, directional coupler, 3D splitter, grating and wood pile structure are inscribed in BK7 glass and lithium niobate using this system.
