A field experiment was conducted during the rabi, 2002-03 to study the effect of irrigation and weed control measures on productivity of rice fallow blackgram [Vigna mungo (L.) Hepper]. The weed density and drymatter increased significantly with increasing level of irrigation from no irrigation to flooding. Treatments that received herbicide application (Recommended seed rate + herbicide and extra seed rate + herbicide) significantly reduced the weed problem over no herbicide treatments (Recommendedseed rate and extra seed rate). A significant increase in yield attributes and yield was noticed with sprinkler irrigation over no irrigation. Treatments like extra seed rate + herbicide and recommended seed rate + herbicide increased the seed yield of rice fallow blackgram significantly over no herbicide treatments. Recommended seed rate + herbicide along with sprinkler irrigation significantly increased the number of pods per plant than other treatment combinations.
